(PRODUCT) RED was created to engage the private sector in the fight against AIDS in order to deliver a sustainable flow of funds to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS in Africa. Companies whose products take on the (PRODUCT) RED mark contribute a portion of profits from the sale of that product to Global Fund financed programs in Africa. So far PRODUCT(RED) partners have raised more than $63 million, which is already at work as part of Global Fund grants in Ghana, Rwanda and Swaziland. Current partners include American Express, Apple, Converse, Dell-Windows, Emporio Armani, Gap, Hallmark and Motorola. (PRODUCT) RED is the first time that the world's leading companies have made a joint commitment to channel a percentage of profits to assist in the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which kills more than two million people every year. It has become one of the largest consumer-based income-generating initiatives by the private sector for an international humanitarian cause. Visit the (Product)RED website: |
