الاجتماع الثاني حول آلية التمويل التطوعي
روما، إيطاليا - في الفترة من 20-- 21 يونيو 2005
أثناء هذا الحدث الذي تستضيفه حكومة إيطاليا، يلتقي المتبرعون للصندوق العالمي لمناقشة احتياجات التمويل لعامي 2006 و2007، فضلاً عن استعراض العجز المتوقع في الموارد في عام 2005. يقدم هذا الاجتماع للمتبرعين أيضاً منتدى تابع لتبادل وجهات النظر حول العمليات التي يقوم بها الصندوق العالمي ومدى فاعليته، سيراً على خطى اجتماع التمويل الأول في مارس بستوكهولم.
يتم دعم الصندوق العالمي أيضاً من خلال إسهامات تطوعية من الحكومات والمؤسسات الخاصة والشركات والأفراد. حتى الآن، أكثر من 45 دولة بجانب المتطوعين تعهدت بدعم برامج الصندوق العالمي حول العالم بما يقدر بمبلغ 1 مليار دولار أمريكي خلال عام 2008. مع ذلك، فالنظام الحالي للإسهامات الخاصة يجعل من الصعب تخطيط عمل الصندوق وتوفير دعم متواصل ومتوقع للدول الـ127 الذين يستفيدون حالياً من المنح. وفي اجتماعه السادس في شهر أكتوبر 2003، وافق مجلس الصندوق العالمي على تأسيس نموذج للتمويل يقوم على أساس التمويل الدوري بدلاً من النظام الحالي.
يرأس عملية التمويل السيد كوفي أنان، الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة بمساعدة السيد فين زاندشتروم باعتباره نائباً له. وستستضيف الحكومة البريطانية اجتماعاً ثالثاَ عن التمويل في لندن في الفترة من 5 إلى 7 سبتمبر 2005.
