Facilitating information and communication in developing countries for Global Fund Resource Mobilization and Advocacy Given that the Global Fund does not have country offices, what can be done to improve communication with and between developing countries, in order to: (1) Improve understanding of what the Global Fund is and how it works; (2) Stimulate more active resource mobilization involvement from those countries on behalf of the Global Fund? ; Finally, What alternative media could be used (print publications, radio, SMS messages, email, etc.) and what partnerships could be considered by the Global Fund to effectively target and reach large audiences in your country and region? |

Ensuring Global Fund Financial Sustainability: Final Theme To date, the Global Fund has received close to US$ 9 billion in pledges from governments, the private sector, private foundations, and individuals. Nearly US$ 5 billion has been committed to more than 359 programs in 131 countries. However, it is estimated that approximately US$ 3 billion is necessary in 2006 to fund the Phase 2 renewals of current grants as well as to launch a new round of funding. Thematic question: How can the Fund and all its partners further improve and diversify their resource mobilization efforts to secure predictable and sustainable financial support at the country level? This week's question: How successful has the Global Fund been to date in working with existing and prospective donors in a predictable and sustainable manner? What are potential focus areas for improvement? |
