• Donors and Contributions
  • Private Sector and Nongovernment Donors

As a public-private partnership, the Global Fund presents an unprecedented opportunity for private sector and nongovernment donors to make contributions that have a significant impact on the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

Since the Global Fund’s inception private sector and nongovernment actors – from businesses, corporations and social enterprises through to philanthropic foundations and individuals – have contributed to the work of the organization in a variety of ways. These range from engaging in the governance of the Global Fund, to making contributions of cash and noncash resources, to collaborating with in-country partners and recipients.

In addition to funding, private sector partners bring expertise and networks that are critical to the fight against the three diseases.

As the global response to the three diseases reaches scale, the continued and expanded engagement of private contributors will play a critical role in ensuring the long-term success of the Global Fund and the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

    Areas for partnership

There are several major areas of partnership through which the private sector and nongovernment donors can support the work of the Global Fund:

    • Marketing campaigns and financial contributions
    • Pro bono services and core competency partnerships
    • Support for advocacy and governance, globally and locally
    • In-country co-investments and operational contributions
