Transitional Funding Mechanism
The Transitional Funding Mechanism (TFM) closed on 31 March 2012. No further applications will be accepted for TFM
In order to protect the gains achieved and ensure that essential programs are maintained, the Global Fund Board decided to take immediate and exceptional action by establishing a Transitional Funding Mechanism and revising the application and approval process for renewals.

In light of the current resource constraints, the Board decided to:
Establish a Transitional Funding Mechanism (TFM), which replaces Round11, to provide funding for the continuation of essential prevention, treatment and/or care services of the three diseases currently financed by the Global Fund;
Develop a new funding model consistent with the Global Fund Strategy 2012-2016, with a view towards funding proposals under the new model beginning in early 2014.

Key dates and timeline
The deadline for TFM applications is 31 March 2012.
Note that funding requests from countries participating in the Second Wave of National Strategy Applications (NSA) are also subject to the criteria of the TFM.
