Rolling Continuation Channel
In November 2006 the Global Fund Board created a new mechanism for well performing grants to apply for continuing funding for up to an additional six years beyond the original proposal term (Board decision on Rolling Continuation Channel Decision 9).
The 'Rolling Continuation Channel' was developed to further support countries by:
- Allowing and supporting scale-up and program expansion where this is in line with the interventions and overall goals of the original grant;
- Creating a positive incentive for strong performance by reason that continued funding under this channel is more streamlined and attractive (e.g., funding length, and funding priority) than under the 'Rounds-based' channel; and
- Providing longer-term financing towards national attempts to ensure sustainability of interventions that will have a long term impact on the three diseases, as demonstrated by a grant contributing to broadly developed, inclusive, long-term national plans to prevent and control HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and/or malaria.
