Established as a partnership in global health, the Global Fund works closely with a wide diversity of partners –implementing governments, donors, civil society, international development organizations, the private sector and communities living with and affected by the diseases. This partnership model actively supports country-owned approaches that develop and implement effective, evidence-based programs to respond to AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

The Global Fund and Angola signed a US$56 million agreement in June which consolidated all current malaria grants in the country into a single grant. The goal of the program, which has been supported by Chevron, is to reduce malaria-related morbidity by 60% in Angola by 2016.
Some of the activities include distributing insecticide treated bed nets to vulnerable people like pregnant women and children under five to prevent them from contracting the disease. Resources are also used for the training of health workers and the expansion of access to anti-malaria treatment through nationwide health facilities.
Chevron, the Global Fund’s corporate champion, has supported the malaria program implemented by Angola’s Ministry of Health through a contribution to the Global Fund.
In addition to contributing US$ 5 million to this program, Chevron is partnering with the Ministry of Health in Angola to help educate its employees and the community about malaria.
Minister of Health, José Dias Van-Dúnem and CCM Chair, Vice-Minister of Education, Ana Paula Ndala Fernando signed the agreement in Luanda.
