8 Million Reasons to Invest in Global Health

We are on the right side of the tipping point to control HIV, TB and malaria as epidemics. To support the global goals of ending the diseases as epidemics by 2030, the Global Fund partnership is seeking to mobilize US$13 billion to fund programs from 2017-2019 and accelerate change and build on the tremendous progress already underway.

US$13 billion for the Global Fund’s Fifth Replenishment will support programs to:

  • Save up to 8 million lives through programs supported by the Global Fund;
  • Avert up to 300 million new infections across the three diseases;
  • Drive US$290 billion in economic gains in the coming decades in the countries where the Global Fund invests;
  • Generate US$41 billion in additional domestic investments for health.

With the additional funding, this will lead to a total of 30-32 million lives saved cumulatively through the Global Fund partnership by 2020. Furthermore, the investments will allow the Global Fund to make substantial contributions towards building resilient and sustainable systems for health and focus its response on women and girls, key populations and human rights.

The Global Fund is launching a new short film, “AIDS, TB & Malaria: End It. For Good.” The film captures our remarkable progress as a dynamic and effective partnership and calls on the world to do more and seize the moment to end AIDS, TB and malaria as epidemics.

We need to invest now to make this a reality – or risk resurgence of the diseases. Every contribution matters.

Let’s end it. For good.
