    HISTORY

(RED) was founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver to engage the private sector in raising both awareness and funds to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

    MISSION

(RED) is a simple idea that transforms our incredible collective power as consumers into a financial force to help others in need. (RED) partners with the world's most iconic brands who contribute up to 50% of profits from (RED)-branded goods and services to the Global Fund. Every day, more than 900 children are born HIV positive. By 2015, that number can be near zero. Treatment exists that costs just 40¢ a day to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child. (RED) is fighting to help deliver an AIDS Free Generation by 2015.

    IMPACT

The largest business initiative supporting the Global Fund, (RED) has contributed more than $195 million to support Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants in Ghana, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, and Zambia. 100% of this money goes to work on the ground – no overhead is taken by either (RED) or the Global Fund. So far more than 14 million people have been reached with prevention, treatment, counseling, and care services through these grants. (RED) dollars are used to support programs that have helped provide life-saving antiretroviral therapy for 220,000 HIV-positive people, put more than 130,000 HIV-positive pregnant women on preventative antiretroviral therapy to reduce the risk of mother-to-child transmission, and reached 13 million people with HIV testing and counseling.

(RED) has initiated several high-profile programs to raise awareness and funds for the global fight against HIV/AIDS, including (PRODUCT)RED, The Lazarus Effect film, THE AIDS FREE GENERATION IS DUE IN 2015 campaign, and most recently, the (RED)RUSH TO ZERO campaign.
