The Global Fund (TGF) has approved so far grants amounting to 1,070,456,943 USD for West and Central Africa alone. More than fifty percent of these resources are dedicated to the procurement of drugs and commodities. Despite the availability of these resources, only a part of commodities has been procured so far, and TGF recipients are facing significant problems in utilizing the allocated funds and having products available at the delivery points as planned by the various strategies outlined in their proposals. TGF in collaboration with the Rational Pharmaceutical Management Plus program of Management Sciences for Health (RPM Plus/MSH) and Roll Back Malaria Initiative will organize a three days workshop to share experiences in implementing Procurement and Supply Management Plans from three countries in the region: Ghana, Guinea Bissau and Nigeria as a way to provide Principal Recipients and program managers with tools to address procurement and supply management challenges.
The Goal of this workshop is to provide a forum for sharing the lessons learned from the implementation of Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) aspects financed by Global Fund in selected countries in West and Central Africa.
The Objectives are to (a) Present and discuss the Global Fund mechanisms and expectations in relation to procurement and supply management; (b) Share lessons learned from three case studies; (c) Disseminate and use planning tools to improve PSM cycle in grants implementation.
Target Audience: Participants from West and Central Africa Region representing Principal recipients, Sub recipients and Procurement experts.
