The Global Fund
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is a global public/private partnership dedicated to raising and disbursing large amounts of additional finance to prevent and treat the three pandemics. The Global Fund has so far committed more than US$10 billion to over 520 programs in 136 countries.
The vacancy is in the Secretariat of the Global Fund. The Secretariat manages the grant portfolio, including executing Board policies, disbursing money to grant recipients and implementing performance-based funding of grants. The Secretariat is also tasked with resource mobilization; providing strategic, policy, financial, legal and administrative support and overseeing monitoring and evaluation. It is based in Geneva and has no staff located outside its headquarters.

Role Summary & Key results expected
The Senior Communications Liaison will report to the Manager, Private Sector Mobilization, and will equally report administratively on a day-to-day basis to the Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer. The Senior Communications Liaison’s primary role is to develop and manage communications activities relating to private sector resource mobilization, ensuring the Global Fund meets its communications commitments to its private sector partners and donors.
Key Responsibilities

The Senior Communications Liaison will:
Supervise the development and execution of communication strategies for Global Fund private sector initiatives.
Act as focal point for public relations and communications-related requests from private sector partners and donors.
Coordinate crisis communications response relating to private sector initiatives.
Coordinate field visits.
Supervise events in coordination with Global Fund events team.
Act as focal point for Private Sector Team cooperation and coordination with Global Fund communications team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications and Membership
Essential:
Advanced Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field, or Bachelor’s Degree with more than 10 years relevant communications work experience.
Experience
Essential:
Seven to ten years experience working within the communications or marketing division of a major corporation / organization, or communications agency.
Experience in developing and managing PR campaigns for major corporations or organizations.
Experience in managing the development and production of media content.
Experience in managing the crisis communications response for a major corporation, communications agency or organization.
Experience in high profile communications activities involving key influencers and celebrities.
Desirable:
Experience in a multi-cultural context and in developing countries.
Demonstrable knowledge of development issues and global health.
Experience of working within or with a fundraising organization.
Technical skills and competencies
Skills:
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.

CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT
THE POSITION will have a competitive compensation package net of tax. The position would correspond to P4 in the UN system. The person selected for this position will be appointed for a period of two years.
The current arrangement under which Global Fund Secretariat employees have the status of WHO staff will terminate on 31 December 2008. After that date, all staff of the Global Fund will be covered under a new contractual arrangement directly with the Global Fund.
