The Global Fund engages with companies in mutually beneficial, innovative partnerships which yield significant additional resources for the Global Fund and its supported programs through the contribution of financial and non-financial assets, access to infrastructure and capabilities, and contribution of human skills and expertise.

(RED) is a brand created to raise awareness and money for the Global Fund by teaming up with the world’s most iconic brands to produce (PRODUCT)RED™-branded products. A portion of the profits from each (PRODUCT)RED product sold goes directly to the Global Fund to invest in African AIDS programs, with a focus on women and children.

The Global Fund Corporate Champions Program is an integrated platform for companies to make a significant financial commitment to the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. These forward-thinking companies recognize that investing through the Global Fund’s performance-based grant-making model is an efficient and impactful way to establish healthy communities around the globe.

| Implementation |
Engagement in the implementation of Global Fund supported programs provides businesses the opportunity to actively participate in a country’s national AIDS, TB and malaria response, leveraging partnerships with government and civil society to serve the needs of the communities within which they operate. A wide range of models for in-country collaborations have already emerged, including: participating in and supporting the national Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs) which oversee Global Fund grants; providing technical and/or management assistance to implementers of grants; leveraging business infrastructure through co-investments which expand the reach of grants; and acting as a direct grant recipient and implementer.

| Through a co-investment with the Global Fund in Tanzania, Unilever Tea’s company clinic expanded the delivery of ARV treatment to the entire community surrounding its operations. As a result, over 1,000 people are enrolled in the clinics ARV program, 35% of whom are Unilever employees and their dependents, and 65% from the community. | Standard Chartered Bank chaired the Global Fund’s Country Coordinating Mechanism in the Gambia, bringing its leadership and management skills to help improve the functioning of the CCM, and consequently improving the oversight and implementation of Global Fund grants. | Pilipinas Shell Foundation acts as Principal Recipient of an $11 million Global Fund grant to fight malaria in the country’s three worst-affected provinces. |

| Pro Bono Services |
Pro bono services offer a leveraged opportunity for companies to utilize their business expertise in supporting core functions of the Global Fund Secretariat, ranging from resource mobilization and communications, to strategy and policy development.

| VH1 created and broadcast a feature length documentary profiling the work of two Global Fund-supported HIV/AIDS programs in Kenya and Madagascar, following Grammy-winner India Arie and YouthAIDS Ambassador Ashley Judd in-country to experience first hand the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS. | To date (in 2007), pro bono services valued at over (US$1.6 million were) have been contributed to support the Global Fund Secretariat. | On behalf of the Global Fund’s Board of Directors, McKinsey & Company developed the Executive Director performance measurement criteria. | Governance |
Engagement in the Private Sector Delegation to the Board provides businesses and business associations an opportunity to participate in governance and contribute to the development of the policies and strategies of the Global Fund. The focal point for the Private Sector Delegation is the Global Business Coalition (link) on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which leads and coordinates the work of the delegation, and facilitates the broader engagement of the private sector.
