• Portfolio and Grant Performance

As of December 2011 Global Fund-supported programs have achieved the following results:

    • 3.3 million people currently on antiretroviral treatment for HIV
    •  8.6 million people on effective TB treatment under the internationally approved TB control strategy (DOTS)
    • 230 million insecticide-treated bed nets distributed to protect families from malaria

Additional results in treatment, prevention and care include:

    • 190 million HIV testing and counseling sessions provided
    •  230 million malaria drug treatments delivered
    • 5.8 million basic care and support services provided to orphans and vulnerable children.
    • 190 million people reached with community outreach services

Why is measurement of grant performance important?

Measuring the performance achieved by Global Fund-financed programs provides the basis for linking resources to impact on the three diseases and turning money into improved health services, strengthened health systems and lives saved in developing and middle-income countries worldwide.
