Transitional Funding Mechanism
The Global Fund Board is responsible for overall governance of the Global Fund and guides the development of the core business model.
The Board approves (or rejects) country proposals based on the recommendations made by the Technical Review Panel. It also decides whether or not to continue funding under grant renewal.
The Board includes representatives of donor and recipient governments, nongovernmental organizations, the private sector (including businesses and foundations) and communities affected by AIDS, TB and malaria. Key international development partners, including the World Health Organisation, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the World Bank also participate as nonvoting members.
