The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has been a key partner of the Global Fund, providing cash contributions, active participation on its board and committees, and substantial funding to related advocacy and fundraising efforts. This includes many of the “Friends of the Global Fund” groups in both developing and developed countries. Additional support has also been provided to develop and launch innovative initiatives like Debt2Health and (PRODUCT) RED™. The foundation has also funded special initiatives in the health supply chain related to the Global Fund, such as the Affordable Medicines Facility - malaria (AMFm).
To date, the foundation has contributed or pledged US $650 million to the Global Fund. The Gates Foundation and others are represented on the Global Fund board through the Private Foundations delegation.
