Private philanthropy as a sustainable source of meaningful financing emphasizes the essential and multi-faceted role that individuals, companies, and private foundations play in global problem-solving. With many major public health successes within reach, private sector engagement can drive measurable impact that has been unheard of previously in the field of development. Indeed, no other area of development has shown such a strong correlation between investment and results as the fight against AIDS, TB and Malaria.
To expand on successful partnerships built to date and to facilitate the broader involvement of individuals and institutions in our work, the Global Fund has launched a philanthropic initiative to address these diseases. The campaign seeks engagement and strategic investments from donors to advance global efforts and dramatically decrease the economic and social impact of these deadly but treatable and preventable diseases.
Campaign tracks include:
The Global Fund’s regional giving efforts bring together concerned institutions and individuals within a particular region for collective action in the fight against the three diseases. The first such initiative, “Gift from Africa”, is already successfully underway.
The global foundation community has been a critical driver of success and service to affected communities. Through this campaign the Global Fund seeks to engage more foundations, calling upon them to make targeted interventions in areas of interest to maximize collective impact.
(RED)™ delivers a sustainable flow of funds to the Global Fund to support AIDS programs in Africa through innovative partnerships with some of the world’s most iconic brands through the (PRODUCT)RED™ program. As a critical partner, (RED)™ leverages its assets and works hand-in-hand with the Global Fund to create new connections and promote new channels for support.
The Global Fund currently finances more than half of all treatment to prevent transmission of HIV from mothers to their children. With the virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission within reach, the Global Fund calls upon visionary mothers worldwide to help achieve this victory in global health.
Engaging leading global companies in the work of the Global Fund is critical to strategic and lasting success. A particular focus will be on engaging the corporate sector active in affected countries.
