The Global Fund at Doha International Conference on Financing for Development
At the start of the millennium, in 2002, heads of state and international organizations agreed on how best to cooperate to finance development. The Monterrey Consensus (PDF) addresses the mobilization of resources, the increase of international trade for development, debt, and how to improve the smooth running of international development assistance. The follow up meeting is being held from 29 November to 2 December 2008, when world leaders will meet in Doha, Qatar to take stock of what has been achieved since Monterrey. Alongside the official event, stakeholders will be given the opportunity to highlight issues and concerns over international development financing.
