Cured and Armed with Education to Prevent Malaria in DRC

Like 70 % of the children in her class in Kimpese, Bas Congo, Fortunne (age 13) caught malaria several months ago. After being treated in hospital and cured, she explains to her class how to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes which cause malaria. Her entire family now sleeps under an insecticide-treated net, distributed by a program receiving Global Fund support. Thanks to programs financed by The Global Fund, over 13 million bed nets have been distributed in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the prevention of malaria.
