Strengthening Community Engagement

The objective of the community engagement strategic initiative (CE SI) is to strengthen the engagement and leadership of communities most affected by HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria in Global Fund and related national processes. This page provides information and resources about the strategic initiative, including short-term technical assistance, long-term capacity strengthening and regional learning hubs.

Short-term Technical Assistance

The community engagement strategic initiative offers short-term technical assistance to communities most affected by HIV, TB and malaria, so they can meaningfully engage in Global Fund and related national processes. Community and civil society organizations and groups can request technical assistance at any time throughout the funding cycle in the following areas:

  • Situational analysis and needs assessment.
  • Engagement in country dialogue.
  • Support for program design and implementation arrangements.

Technical assistance is provided peer-to-peer by 19 prequalified nongovernmental providers, including key population networks and civil society organizations.

Long-term Capacity Strengthening

Global Fund support contributes to strengthening the capacity of key and vulnerable population networks and groups to meaningfully engage in Global Fund and related national processes. The community engagement strategic initiative partners with 12 regional and global networks and organizations to provide this support.

The strategic initiative also provides targeted engagement support to women, girls and gender diverse communities to advance gender-transformative programing through the Gender Equality Fund, HER Voice Fund and Voix Essentielles.
