    As part of the partnership’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Global Fund has introduced new flexibilities to the process for grant progress updates and disbursement requests – when Principal Recipients report on the latest progress of program implementation and request funding.

    To provide additional flexibility for applicants to submit their funding requests as soon as they are ready, the Global Fund has updated the funding request submission dates for 2020.

    Country Coordinating Mechanisms have submitted the first funding requests to the Global Fund for the 2020-2022 funding cycle. In total, 51 separate applications were submitted for the first submission window in March 2020. They will be evaluated by the Technical Review Panel during their first review window.

    Value for money – maximizing and sustaining equitable and quality health outputs, outcomes and impact for a given level of resources – is a key principle guiding Global Fund investments. While the concept has long been an integral part of the Global Fund’s operations, from the 2020-2022 funding cycle onward applicants are encouraged to consider it from funding request development through grant closure.
