The Global Fund congratulates Dr. Eric Goosby U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator

Geneva – The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria warmly congratulates Dr. Eric Goosby on his confirmation by the Senate as U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator. In his role, Dr. Goosby will oversee the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Government’s international strategy to combat HIV/AIDS. The Global Fund works closely with PEPFAR to fight HIV and AIDS globally and looks forward to a continued close collaboration with PEPFAR and with Dr Goosby in his new role.

PEPFAR and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria enjoy a complementary and supportive relationship. In order to exploit synergies in PEPFAR’s 15 focus countries, the two organizations coordinate their activities to ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively. To date, the two programs combined have placed more than 3.5 million people on ARV treatment and delivered prevention interventions to millions more.
