The news from Belgium today, of the terrible loss of life and injuries caused by another terrorist attack, requires us once again to stand united in our condemnation of the violence that runs counter to humanity and our common goal of human progress.
Today, the people in Belgium are sending out the message # ikwilhelpen , "I want to help," in a powerful statement of solidarity in the face of terror. Little more than a week ago, both Turkey and Côte d'Ivoire, were visited by this same horror. It was only last November that we stood together to mark a minute's silence following attacks in Paris and Beirut.
Again, we honor victims of terrorism around the world, with a heartfelt sincerity undimmed by the frequency with which humans are capable of committing such atrocities on others.
