The Global Fund is a key partner of the fight against HIV, TB and malaria in the Republic of Congo. Malaria is endemic in the Congo and continues to be a serious public health problem among pregnant women and children under 5. The government and global health partners are supporting efforts to improve the procurement of pediatric antiretroviral drugs and implement mass distribution of insecticidal nets to achieve universal coverage.
The TB/HIV co-infection rate in Congo is one of the highest in Western and Central Africa. Future investments by the Global Fund partnership will focus on increasing access to treatment for people living with HIV, lowering the number of TB and AIDS-related deaths, reducing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and improving the supply chain of antiretroviral and anti-tuberculosis drugs.
