Moldova is one of Europe’s poorest countries with a concentrated HIV epidemic among key populations. With Global Fund support, Moldova was able to expand HIV prevention services for prisoners and people who inject drugs. Treatment success rate in all forms of TB has improved in recent years. The country has a plan in place to take over all funding for antiretroviral treatment by 2018. So far, HIV treatment coverage remains low and the crisis in neighboring Ukraine is impacting the country’s economy, which could create challenges in sustaining the funding needed to continue Moldova’s fight against the two diseases.
