From 2008-2013, Kosovo experienced an economic expansion with an average annual GDP growth of 4.5 percent. However, Kosovo remains one of the poorest countries in Europe. While 90 cases of HIV have been officially reported in Kosovo, the country is considered vulnerable because of its poverty and unemployment rates. Global Fund financing goes toward expanding HIV prevention through drop-in centers and outreach programs. This is done through timely case detection, providing proper treatment of smear positive cases and ensuring continued support to patients during the whole treatment period.Flickr / Vegim Zhitija / License
