Standard Bank, Africa’s largest banking group in terms of market capitalization, first entered into a partnership with the Global Fund in 2008.
The collaboration has generated major impact. Standard Bank’s support in improving the financial and management skills of Global Fund implementing partners has enhanced grant efficiency and program effectiveness, delivering greater results in the fight against the three diseases. By engaging its employees directly in this capacity-building work, Standard Bank has positioned itself as a role model for African businesses.
Following an expanded three-year pledge commitment by Standard Bank at the Global Fund Fifth Replenishment Conference in 2016, the partnership is scaling up and entering a new phase. This includes essential financial contributions to Global Fund programs in Africa, as well as employee and customer campaigns to harness financial and advocacy support. Together, these initiatives save more lives and leverage the bank’s resources to help communities reach their full potential.
