Panel discussion: “The Global Fund’s reach in fragile, crisis settings: Defeating HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria everywhere”

How the Global Fund works in challenging operating environments. COEs account for approximately one-third of the global disease burden for HIV, TB and malaria. Climate change and increasing conflict and displacement are affecting the epidemiology and transmission of existing diseases and facilitating the emergence of new ones. Inequities have deepened and poverty is increasing, particularly in countries affected by conflict, disaster and insecurity.

  • How do crises and fragility affect the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and the broader fight against infectious diseases – and vice versa? How are key populations and displaced persons affected in such contexts, and how can they be better reached and served?
