The Global Fund is committed to using its position in global health to influence and shape global markets for HIV, tuberculosis and malaria health products, playing a strategic role to maximize access to them.
Adopted in 2015, the Global Fund’s 2016-2021 Market Shaping Strategy represents an important part of the Global Fund’s contribution to fighting the three diseases. It defines an approach for the Global Fund partnership to contribute to health outcomes by leveraging its position. It also identifies several cross-cutting initiatives that the Global Fund can implement to support its market shaping objectives.
At the request of the Strategy Committee of the Global Fund Board, the Technical Evaluation Reference Group conducted in 2019 a mid-term review of the Market Shaping Strategy. The review explores successes and challenges related to the strategy’s implementation. It also provides recommendations addressed to the Global Fund, implementing countries and technical partners.
