# France

France is a founding member of the Global Fund. It is the largest European donor and the second largest public donor overall, with a total contribution of {{0:C:EUR:B}} to date.

For the Eighth Replenishment, France has pledged {{2026-2028:P:EUR:M}}, including €60 million set aside for technical cooperation, for the period 2026-2028. This pledge signals France's continued engagement in global health and in support of the Global Fund, one of the partners on which France can count to implement its global health strategy.

France hosted the Global Fund’s Sixth Replenishment Conference in October 2019. At the Conference, in an unprecedented show of global solidarity, the Global Fund mobilized more than US$14 billion, including €1.296 billion from France, a 20% increase compared to its pledge at the Fifth Replenishment.

France remains committed to health, climate, maternal and child health, and gender equality, which are also major priorities for the Global Fund.

In support of the Global Fund and as part of its contribution, France is also implementing technical cooperation support through “[L’Initiative](https://linitiative.expertisefrance.fr/)”.
