# Switzerland

Switzerland is a founding member of The Global Fund. With cumulative contributions equivalent to {{0:C:USDEquivalent:M}} to date, Switzerland has been a strong supporter of the Global Fund since our partnership was founded in 2002. Switzerland is among the first public donors to announce its support for the Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment, covering 2026-2028, through a pledge of CHF 64 million.

The Global Fund works closely with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. This strategic cooperation is reaffirmed in the Dispatch on Switzerland’s International Cooperation 2021-2024.

For the Global Fund’s Seventh Replenishment, which covers the period 2023-2025, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, announced a {{2023-2025:P:CHF:M}} pledge.

In 2021, [Switzerland allocated CHF 50 million](/en/news/2021/2021-07-14-global-fund-applauds-switzerlands-leadership-in-the-global-fight-against-covid-19/ "2021-07-14 Global Fund Applauds Switzerlands Leadership in The Global Fight Against COVID-19") to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) as part of a CHF 300 million pledge to the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator.

### Switzerland and the Global Fund

Switzerland, Canada and Australia share a seat on the Global Fund Board. With this representation, Switzerland plays a key role in initiating and shaping discussions on issues such as embedding the fight against the three diseases in the broader universal health coverage agenda, strengthening Country Coordinating Mechanisms, as well as promoting the role of civil society and ensuring access to quality health services to vulnerable and marginalized populations.

Switzerland is also the host country of the Global Fund, which is based in Geneva. The Global Fund is a contributor to International Geneva, an important platform for Swiss and global health policy.
