### The UAE and the Global Fund

In recent years, the UAE has become a leading voice on the increasingly important connections between climate change and global health. It organized the first ever Health Day at the annual UN Climate Change Conference when it hosted COP28 in 2023. The Global Fund collaborated with the UAE COP28 Presidency and additional partners to develop the [Guiding Principles for Financing Climate and Health Solutions](/en/news/2023/2023-12-02-41-funders-partners-endorse-new-guiding-principles-financing-climate-health-solutions/ "2023-12-02 41 Funders Partners Endorse New Guiding Principles Financing Climate Health Solutions").

The Global Fund also works closely with the UAE-based global health initiative Reaching the Last Mile. In 2023, at the Reaching the Last Mile Forum, the Global Fund joined several international organizations to highlight the importance of community health workers, [announcing funding of US$900 million](/en/news/2023/2023-12-03-reaching-last-mile-welcomes-collective-commitment-boost-support-community-health-workers/ "2023-12-03 Reaching Last Mile Welcomes Collective Commitment Boost Support Community Health Workers") for the following three years.
