External Quality Assessments

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provides the Global Fund with independent and objective assurance over the design and effectiveness of controls and processes in place to manage the key risks impacting the Global Fund's programs and operations, including the quality of such controls and processes

As stated in the OIG Charter, the work practices of and functions provided by the OIG are subject to periodic independent assessments to review conformance with prevailing international standards and guidelines, and best practices. The OIG Audit Function adheres to the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) - International Standards for the Professional Practice of International Auditing, while the Investigation Function adheres to The Conference of International Investigators - Uniform Principles and Guidelines for Investigations. As per the IIA IPPF, external assessments must be conducted at least once every five years. The OIG Charter requires performance of an external assessment once every three years.
