Sanofi, through its philanthropic arm, Foundation S (the Sanofi Collective), is a founding partner of the Climate and Health Catalytic Fund, a groundbreaking initiative launched in collaboration with the Global Fund and the Gates Foundation. With a commitment of US$10 million over five years (through 2029), Sanofi and Foundation S are helping to accelerate the delivery of climate-smart health solutions in some of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries.
The Catalytic Fund has mobilized US$50 million in initial funding to date, bringing together a coalition of partners committed to advancing the intersection of climate and health.
In addition to its funders, the fund is supported by key global partners – including the Green Climate Fund, the World Health Organization and the Rockefeller Foundation – who provide strategic guidance, ensure alignment and help drive coordinated action. Together, this partnership is working to build climate-resilient health systems and protect the world’s most vulnerable communities from the accelerating health impacts of climate change:
Key areas of investment:
- Immediate climate adaptation for health systems in countries with high burdens of HIV, TB and malaria. This includes anticipatory actions before climate-related disasters and emergency response measures after events like floods and cyclones.
- Long-term resilience building, including climate-proofing disease programs, strengthening early warning systems, developing climate-smart health workforces and improving the sustainability of health infrastructure and supply chains.
- Accelerated disease prevention and control in regions where climate change is increasing transmission risk.
Foundation S - The Sanofi Collective is committed to increasing the resilience of underserved populations by generating real-world evidence to inform policy reform and by supporting local initiatives that build capacity and sustainability. Its broader mission is to improve access to medicine for patients, strengthen community health capabilities and empower healthcare workers – building healthier futures for generations to come.
