Germany Pledges €150 Million to Global Fund COVID-19 Response at Global Citizen Summit
On June 27, the Global Citizen #GlobalGoalUnite For Our Future Summit in partnership with the European Commission brought together world leaders, advocates, private sector partners, health workers, philanthropists and global citizens to strengthen the fight against COVID-19. During the summit, Chancellor Angela Merkel announced a major pledge from Germany of €150 million towards the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response Mechanism. Highlights also include powerful words from Dr. Zolelwa Sifumba, a health worker and MDR-TB survivor from South Africa, and the launch of a new partnership with the FIFA Foundation announced by CEO Youri Djorkaeff.
