In Solidarity with Orlando

14 June 2016

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is saddened and horrified by the attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, where 49 people were killed and many injured by a senseless act of violence. The Global Fund stands in solidarity with the victims, survivors, friends and families of those targeted in this appalling attack – and with members of LGBTI communities everywhere.

While we mourn the loss of life in Orlando, we also remember that attacks against the LGBTI community continue to happen every day around the world, often unreported and unseen. In the past year alone, the world has lost prominent activists, human rights defenders, friends and family members in targeted attacks in Bangladesh, Kenya, El Salvador, Argentina and beyond. This must stop.

The Global Fund will continue to work together with partners, governments, and members of the LGBTI community to fight discrimination and stigma against all people.
