Global Fund Appoints Philippe François as Head of Sourcing & Supply Chain

GENEVA – Peter Sands, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, today named Philippe François as Head of Sourcing & Supply Chain, bringing a recognized track record of innovation in supplying healthcare products and services worldwide.

In 25 years of experience in international healthcare operations including supply chain, procurement and process improvement, Philippe François has overseen and secured the supply and the distribution of billions of dollars of drugs and medical devices all over the world. He currently serves as the head of supply chain at Novartis, the healthcare multinational based in Switzerland.

“Philippe is an accomplished leader who can tackle complex international operations with a pragmatic mindset,” said Sands. “To accelerate the end of epidemics, we absolutely require superior acumen and innovation in supplying healthcare products and services with strategic partners worldwide. Philippe has the experience and the expertise to lead our high-skilled team to greater achievements.”

As leader of supply operations for European and American multinationals, Philippe François has been responsible for defining and deploying broad supply strategies, securing quality supply for more than 120 countries, controlling costs and constantly innovating with the firm goal of achieving quality care for patients. To meet the highest quality and compliance standards of worldwide healthcare systems, he consistently focused on strong medical efficiency, both in terms of access to care and clinical efficiency.

Before leading supply chain at Novartis, he developed the supply operation function of Baxter Healthcare, a U.S.-based multinational where he worked for 20 years in various positions which allowed him to lead international teams in Europe, Middle East, Africa, the U.S. and Asia.

Philippe François holds a Master of Science degree in engineering from the École Nationale D’ingénieurs de Tarbes, France, which allowed him to begin his career successfully in the automotive and optic industry. He is a French national, born and raised in Provence.

He will join the Global Fund October 1, 2018 and will relocate with his family to Geneva.
