Abbott Laboratories is an American multinational medical devices and health care company. The Abbott Fund has pledged US$5 million to the Integrated Laboratory Systems Strengthening Catalytic Fund in partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation.
Absa Group
Absa, a pan-African bank and purpose-led organization, is working with the Global Fund to leverage its voice, marketing and communication platforms to raise awareness of the importance of investing in health, as well as explore how to attract private capital to strengthen healthcare systems and supply chains across Africa. Absa has also provided financial support to a new social impact bond designed to improve HIV prevention amongst adolescent girls and young women in South Africa and has supported the South African Government’s pledge for the Seventh Replenishment. This aligns with the Group’s purpose of “empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together... one story at a time”.
Dimagi
Dimagi will invest US$5 million to support countries where the Global Fund invests to build and scale electronic community health information systems, to integrate CommCare applications at the community level into wider system data flows, and to introduce new digital innovations into established CommCare platforms. This contribution will support data-driven planning and prioritization to improve community health worker jobs and strengthen community health systems at the last mile in these countries.
GBCHealth
The Global Fund’s partnership with GBCHealth leverages a network of over 200 companies committed to investing their resources and capabilities to strengthen supply chain management across Africa. A new platform coordinated by GBCHealth and intended to grow to include a diverse range of sectors enables the engagement of the great range and depth of corporate core competencies such as cold chain, route to market optimization, and last mile delivery – contributing to increasing medicine availability and improving supply chain efficiencies.
GSK
GSK and ViiV Healthcare have pledged GBP 2 million to support the Global Fund’s Emergency Fund for Ukraine. This contribution is intended to support the delivery of HIV and TB prevention, testing and treatment services for Ukrainian people and communities.
Le Nu Thuy Duong, Vice Chairwoman and CEO, KN Holdings
Ms. Le Nu Thuy Duong, Vice Chairwoman and CEO, KN Holdings, became Global Fund partner in 2019 to support tuberculosis programs in her native Viet Nam. Through Long Thanh Golf Investment and Trading she pledged US$1 million at the Global Fund’s Sixth Replenishment, and a further US$3 million at the Seventh Replenishment in 2022. These contributions were further bolstered by matching funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, resulting in a US$11 million total commitment to the Global Fund. Ms. Duong’s support has helped expand the critical work of fighting pediatric tuberculosis led by the government of Viet Nam.
Medic
Medic will invest US$3 million to support countries where the Global Fund invests to scale up existing Community Health Toolkits (CHT) at a national level, to build a more robust and holistic record of patient care and to decentralize expertise to ensure the opportunity for sustainable local ownership of health system technology infrastructure. This contribution will largely help build capacity by enabling specialists to design community health systems at the last mile in these countries.
Medtronic LABS
Medtronic LABS is supporting the Global Fund with US$100,000 and US$5 million in in-kind resources. These contributions will support work focused on digital health innovation and digital infrastructure in Africa. First, the partnership will expand the disease applications of the SPICE platform to include more than ten disease pathways, including HIV, TB, malaria and others, aligning with country priorities. Second, the partnership will open source the SPICE platform to become a digital public good or global good. Third, the partnership will deepen core technology capabilities, including expanding ML/AI machinery for a predictive approach to population health. Fourth, the partnership will focus on training and capacity building for health care workers in digital literacy and data for health, as well as clinical guidelines in health areas. Finally, the partnership will expand Medtronic LABS geographic footprint via public private partnerships.
Novartis Foundation
The Novartis Foundation is working with the Global Fund to accelerate and scale data and healthtech solutions to deliver real-time insights for improved decision making and more equitable access to health services in Africa. This will include building institutional and entrepreneurial capacity around data and digital health through the HealthTech Hub Africa, scaling local healthtech solutions and helping to shape innovative and sustainable models for healthtech financing.
PharmAccess Foundation
The Global Fund’s partnership with PharmAccess Foundation supports African countries to accelerate progress toward universal health coverage by harnessing digital technology. PharmAccess, a Dutch nongovernmental organization with a presence in Africa, is dedicated to championing the development of mobile and digital technology platforms to expand access to affordable health care in sub-Saharan Africa.
Roche
The Global Fund’s partnership with Roche focuses on addressing two critical gaps in health systems – strengthening in-country capacity in managing health care waste and lab sample transport – by tapping into and adapting best practices and core competencies from Roche.
ViiV Healthcare
ViiV Healthcare, through its Positive Action programs and partnership with the Global Fund, continues to empower adolescent girls, young women and their communities to take the lead in shaping and driving community-led responses to the HIV epidemic. As part of its three-year strategic partnership with the Global Fund, ViiV supports the next phase of HER Voice. Specifically, it focuses on financing and capacity building among adolescent girls’ and young women’s groups to improve programmatic effectiveness, strengthen participation in Global Fund country processes and build the capacity of organizations and networks of young women.
