Global Fund Appoints Susanne Kuehn as Ethics Officer and Head of the Ethics Office

The Global Fund is pleased to announce the appointment of Susanne Kuehn as the new Ethics Officer and Head of the Ethics Office.

Susanne specializes in ethics, compliance, integrity and anti-corruption and brings 20 years of experience from different regions and organizations to the role. She has worked with international organizations, non-governmental organizations and development consulting firms, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, United Nations Development Programme, World Bank, and Transparency International in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Most recently, Susanne served as the Director, Anti-fraud, Ethics and Compliance Unit, of the International Rescue Committee, leading their efforts to strengthen ethical conduct and prevent fraud and corruption within the organization.

Welcoming Susanne’s appointment, which followed a rigorous and competitive search process, Peter Sands, Executive Director of the Global Fund, said: “The Global Fund has zero tolerance for abuses of any kind and requires its staff and partners worldwide to adhere to the highest ethical standards in the conduct of Global Fund-supported activities. Whether it is about anti-corruption, prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, conducting due diligence or supporting Country Coordinating Mechanisms, Susanne will provide the first-class guidance that we need to continue our mission to put an end to the deadliest epidemics.”

A German citizen, Susanne holds a Master of Public Policy and Administration from the University of Potsdam, Germany, a Post-graduate Certificate from the German Development Institute and an Executive Masters with management and leadership focus from Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. 

Susanne will start her new role on 1 October 2022.
