COVID-19 Pandemic: Statement from Executive Director Peter Sands
“The Global Fund was created in response to the last big pandemic that struck humanity: HIV and AIDS. With the COVID-19 pandemic, we know all too well what’s at stake in terms of lives and communities. But we also know what can be achieved when the world comes together to act decisively.” Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands – working from home along with the rest of Global Fund staff in Switzerland – explains what the Global Fund partnership is doing to continue our mission of saving lives and ending the epidemics of HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, and to help countries prepare for and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
