Evaluation of Integration of Gender Approaches in HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria Programs

12 November 2024

Status: Ongoing

The Evaluation and Learning Office of the Global Fund, with oversight from the Independent Evaluation Panel, will commission an evaluation of Global Fund efforts to maximize gender equality in HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria programs.

The purpose of the evaluation is to assess to what extent, and how, approaches to advance gender equality have been integrated into HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria programs supported by Global Fund investments.

Its objectives include:

  1. To assess the extent to which gender equality approaches are being integrated into HIV, TB and malaria disease programs supported by the Global Fund.
  2. To identify enabling and hindering (internal and external) factors - and their causes and effects - for integrating gender equality approaches into Global Fund-supported disease programs.
  3. To identify key lessons and successes that would allow the Global Fund partnership to reinforce, advance and sustain gender-responsive and transformative interventions in future disease programs.

This evaluation is a formative assessment to identify the progress and achievements made so far and to serve as a forward-looking assessment to provide actionable recommendations for improvement in future Global Fund Grant cycles.

The evaluation implementation period is expected to start in early February 2025 and run until end of September 2025.
