Christy Feig appointed as the New Head of Communications

The Global Fund is very pleased to announce the appointment of Christy Feig as its new Head of Communications.

Christy brings 30 years of leadership and expertise in communications and global public health, and a unique mix of experience in media, the UN system, and the private sector. Her strategic and innovative thinking, global networks, and inclusive, collaborative leadership style, combined with a lifelong commitment to public health and global development, will be of immense value for the Global Fund.

She started her career at CNN, covering health and medical news. Her work focused on HIV/AIDS for the network between 1995 and 2007, traveling frequently across Africa to some of the most affected communities.

She was then appointed Director for International Communications at the American Red Cross with the objective of combining and unifying the international public affairs and information resources teams and guide them in their strategy to promote the organization’s work in more than 30 countries.

In 2009, she was appointed Director of Communications of the World Health Organization (WHO) where she oversaw the development of communications strategies, products and messaging for the organization’s work across the globe and served as the primary communications adviser to the then Director‐General, Dr. Margaret Chan. Among multiple achievements, Christy designed and implemented the Emergency Communications Network and developed the Social Media Team and oversaw its growth.

Christy then joined Global Health Strategies (GHS), an international consulting company specializing in global health and development communications, advocacy, research and strategy, as their Senior Vice President until September 2017. She then established her own consultancy firm, Christy Feig & Associates, providing a variety of support for top global health and development organizations, foundations, and companies.

Christy is joining us from the Rockefeller Foundation where she has been serving as Managing Director for Communications and Advocacy, leading the development and implementation of advocacy and communications strategies for the Foundation’s key programs.

She holds a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science from Baylor University.

Christy will be joining the Global Fund on October 1st, 2021.
