Face of the Fight Zolelwa Sifumba
Zolelwa Sifumba was in medical school when she got a phone call that changed her life: She was diagnosed with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. She endured 18 months of agonizing treatment and emerged an activist. “There is no us and them with TB. We’re all at risk because we all breathe.”
Zolelwa spoke at the Global Fund’s Sixth Replenishment Conference in Lyon, France 9-10 October 2019. At the conference donors pledged US$14 billion to Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria for the next three years.
