Dr. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany: This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Reflecting on the Global Fund's 20th anniversary and the impact of 20 years of unprecedented global cooperation, Dr. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, says, “Twenty years of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is an anniversary that fills me with deep gratitude. With the help of the Fund, some 38 million lives have been saved. Germany was and remains part of this global community founded on shared responsibility.” Looking forwards, Chancellor Merkel calls for, “further endeavours to overcome diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria once and for all.”
