Catherine’s Story: How Integrated Care Transformed Her Second Pregnancy

Catherine’s first pregnancy was very difficult, but during her second, things were different. She received support from nurse Evalyn, who is trained on integrating HIV, TB (tuberculosis) and malaria care into health services for mothers and newborns.

This includes screening for HIV and TB, ensuring Catherine and her unborn baby are protected from malaria as well as building trust and confidence and providing resources so that Catherine stays healthy and informed.

With funding from Takeda, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine work with health authorities to train hundreds of nurses and midwives on integrating vital HIV, TB and malaria care to support mothers-to-be and newborns in Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria.
