Nurse Evalyn’s Story: Providing Integrated Care to Mothers-to-Be and Babies

Evalyn has been a nurse for decades and is passionate about her job. Today, she’s on the labor ward at Vihiga County Referral Hospital in Kenya.

With funding from Takeda, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine work with health authorities to train nurses like Evalyn on integrating HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria services into care for mothers and newborns.

Pregnancy is one of the few, moments when most women and families seek out health care – so a critical opportunity for Evalyn and her colleagues to test for, treat and prevent disease.
