Global Fund Appoints Elizabeth O’Donnell as Head of Human Resources

GENEVA – The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria today named Elizabeth O’Donnell, a highly-experienced executive and manager, to be its new Head of Human Resources.

Ms. O’Donnell has more than 20 years of experience as a senior executive, and is known as an effective leader in workforce strategy, organizational design, talent management and transformational change.

Ms. O’Donnell, a Canadian citizen, worked most recently as a Global Human Resources Business Partner at Merck Group and at F. Hoffman-La Roche, major multi-national pharmaceutical companies.

“Beth gives the Global Fund the kind of leadership that will ensure we have a sustainable trajectory of positive change,” said Gabriel Jaramillo, General Manager of the Global Fund. “She is an exceptional leader, and her experience in constructing the right people management skills in a dynamic organization is extremely valuable for the Global Fund.”

At F. Hoffman-La Roche, Ms. O’Donnell helped lead an internal transformation by introducing a business partnering model to build teams of talented professionals in finance and information technology. She also advised senior management on leadership changes that were necessary during a process of globalization.

Ms. O’Donnell is also experienced in overseeing and leading talent management and mentoring, to help organizations retain their most talented and productive employees. She has also worked as a management consultant and coach.

Ms. O’Donnell’s appointment is one of several major staff moves in recent months, as part of an organizational transformation undertaken by Mr. Jaramillo.
