The Global Fund Board relies on the Technical Review Panel to ensure that our partnership’s investments are strategically focused and aligned to the Global Fund’s strategy. An independent group, the Technical Review Panel is composed of health care and development professionals.

The 2019 call for applicants for the Technical Review Panel for 2020-2022 has closed.

Member qualifications

Technical Review Panel members have expertise in one or more of the following primary areas:

  • HIV
  • Tuberculosis
  • Malaria
  • Resilient and sustainable systems for health
  • Human rights and gender
  • Strategic investment and sustainable financing

In addition, members often have expertise in these cross-cutting areas:

  • Challenging operating environments
  • Community systems strengthening
  • Program management

Members are experts and leaders in their field, have strong academic credentials and broad experience in program development and/or implementation at the country level. They also have a sound understanding of key issues that impact implementation capacity. Skills in reviewing funding proposals or programs and/or advising health programs are considered an asset.

Recruitment process

The Technical Review Panel is replenished periodically and as the need arises. The recruitment and selection of members is managed by the Board’s Strategy Committee using an open, transparent and criteria-based process through a public call for applications. The last recruitment was in 2019.
