Technical Review Panel


The Global Fund Board relies on the Technical Review Panel to ensure that Global Fund investments are strategically focused and aligned to the Global Fund’s strategy.

Member qualifications

The Technical Review Panel's expertise spans HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, human rights and gender, health and community, strategic investments, sustainable financing and transition, challenging operating environments and emergency settings.

In addition to a robust and up-to-date technical expertise in a specific area, review panel members must have broad experience and understanding of:

  • Program development
  • Programming at the country level
  • Key issues impacting implementation capacity in developing countries and challenging environments

The Global Fund looks for candidates who will add diversity in terms of their areas of expertise as well as their geographical and sectoral experience.

Recruitment process

The Technical Review Panel is replenished periodically and as the need arises. The recruitment and selection of members is managed by the Board’s Strategy Committee, using an open, transparent and criteria-based process through a public call for applications. The last recruitment was in 2017.

2019 recruitment

The next call for applicants for the Technical Review Panel will begin in July 2019. Details, including how to apply, will be published on this web page.
