Global Fund Concerned by Uganda's Constitutional Court Ruling on the Anti-Homosexuality Act

05 April 2024

GENEVA – Following the Constitutional Court’s ruling in Uganda this week, which struck down several sections of the Anti-Homosexuality Act (AHA), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (the Global Fund) is concerned about the remaining provisions of the law. The Act, and the risk of human rights violations associated with it, is likely to create obstacles for people in need of HIV prevention and treatment services, and undermine the progress achieved so far in terms of access to health in the country.

The Global Fund remains committed to the communities, including vulnerable populations, it serves in Uganda, and will continue to support their access to the health services they need and their determination to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
