Placing Orders and Procuring Health Products in 2021

07 May 2021

The recent exacerbation of the COVID-19 pandemic in India reminds us that the impact of the disease remains uncertain and the situation can change very quickly.

During the past 12 months, our overall assessment of supply disruption remained moderate. However, we should not be complacent.

In order to better able to secure supply, we strongly encourage Principal Recipients to submit requisitions as soon as possible for products needing to be delivered over the next 10-11 months, through the end of March 2022. To support your planning, we suggest:

  • PRs to urgently submit all outstanding requisitions to wambo.org by 21 May 2021.
  • PRs to accelerate approvals for requisitions already placed.
  • Requests for customized labeling requests will not be accepted. The Global Fund will no longer accept customized labeling to ensure that products can be quickly manufactured and efficiently deployed to all countries.

Rapid decisions by Principal Recipients of freight proposals are required to secure the best available slot, as slow approvals inevitably result in several weeks’ delays. The Global Fund and Principal Service Agents (PSA) capacities are stretched due to government control measures in place in various countries. We appreciate Principal Recipients support in providing rapid feedback on the following:

  • Timely feedback on approval of expiration dates;
  • Greenlighting shipments and obtaining necessary waivers;
  • Exercising flexibilities with the pertinent in-country stakeholders; and
  • Approval on the increased freight costs.

Please reach out to and PSA contacts for further information and discuss with your Global Fund Country Team as necessary.
